Anchorage, Alaska
Family, Winter Beauty, and New Beginnings
This holiday season took us far from home—from Las Vegas to Anchorage, Alaska—to spend time with our daughter and son-in-law, who recently made a major move from New Jersey to Alaska in October. Visiting family during the holidays is always special, but experiencing it in a place as unique and beautiful as Anchorage made it unforgettable.
They’ve both started exciting new careers as attorneys in Anchorage, and it was wonderful to see them thriving in their new professional chapter. Supporting family through big life transitions is something we value deeply, both personally and professionally, and this trip was a reminder of how important strong foundations truly are.
From the Las Vegas Desert to an Alaska Winter
The contrast between Las Vegas winter weather and Anchorage temperatures couldn’t be more dramatic. Leaving the desert behind for days hovering around 5 degrees required a serious wardrobe upgrade. The cold air in Alaska feels crisp and clean, and while it’s certainly an adjustment, it adds to the sense of calm and clarity that comes with winter in the north.
Stunning Alaska Scenery and Iconic Views
One of the highlights of our trip was taking in the incredible natural scenery. On clear days, we enjoyed breathtaking views of Mount McKinley (Denali), standing tall and majestic in the distance. Seeing the frozen ocean for the first time was equally impressive—powerful, peaceful, and unlike anything we experience back home.
We also visited Alyeska Ski Resort, enjoying lunch surrounded by snow-covered peaks, and made our way to Portage Glacier, a must-see destination near Anchorage. Alaska’s natural beauty has a way of slowing you down and reminding you to appreciate the details.
A True Alaska Wildlife Encounter
One morning, we were treated to a surprise visit from a mama moose and her baby. Seeing these massive animals up close was both humbling and awe-inspiring. Moments like that make it clear why Alaska is such a special place—wildlife here is part of everyday life, and it commands respect.
Northern Lights, Seafood, and Holiday Traditions
Although we hoped to see the Northern Lights in Anchorage, they didn’t appear during our visit. Still, that just gives us another reason to return. Alaska has a way of calling you back.
The Alaska seafood certainly did not disappoint. Fresh salmon and halibut were highlights of the trip, and sharing great meals together is always one of our favorite holiday traditions.
Why Travel and Family Time Matter in Business
We visited Alaska once before on a cruise about 15 years ago, but this trip felt very different. Anchorage is no longer just a destination—it’s now part of our family’s story. Taking time away to reconnect, experience new places, and support loved ones reinforces the values we bring back home: care, attention to detail, reliability, and appreciation for quality.
At our business, we believe those same values matter just as much—whether it’s taking pride in our work, serving our community, or building long-term relationships with the people we serve.
Anchorage, Alaska: Cold Temperatures, Warm Memories
This holiday trip reminded us that while Anchorage may be cold, the experience is anything but. Between family time, incredible scenery, unforgettable wildlife encounters, and the quiet beauty of an Alaska winter, we returned home grateful and inspired.
We’re already looking forward to our next visit—hopefully with a Northern Lights show waiting for us.
